On the Statements of U.S. President Donald Trump

Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump has repeatedly made serious claims that “in order to reach the opponents of the Iranian regime, we gave weapons to the Kurds, but the Kurds did not hand over these weapons to them and kept them for themselves.” Such statements and actions risk creating the perception of a coordinated campaign directed against the Kurdish people, while certain hostile forces appear to be seeking to exploit these narratives in a manner detrimental to the Kurdish cause.

The Kurdish people and the United States have maintained relations over many years, marked by both cooperation and difficult periods. Broad and generalized accusations of this nature place all Kurds under suspicion and risk undermining Kurdish-American relations. As the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK), we reject these allegations and regard them as both serious and potentially harmful. These claims require immediate clarification through transparent and credible explanations. We further affirm that parties and organizations affiliated with the KNK have not engaged in such activities, nor do we possess information regarding such actions.

Therefore:

  1. President Trump should refrain from making generalized accusations against the Kurdish people as a whole and should clearly identify the specific group or entity to which he is referring.
  2. Any Kurdish groups that may be implicated or remain under suspicion should address these allegations openly and transparently before the public.

The Kurdish people continue their legitimate struggle for freedom across all parts of Kurdistan. In the course of this struggle, we maintain diplomatic relations with international powers and seek to strengthen our network of friends and allies. We are not soldiers or instruments of any external power. In all of our relations, we preserve our independent will and remain committed to human values. We will continue to uphold these principles steadfastly and without compromise.
