Court decision in the murder case of Deniz Cewdet Bulbun

The member and representative of Kurdistan National Congress – KNK in Southern Kurdistan Deniz Cewdet Bulbun (Deniz Hêvî) was assassinated and became a martyr on September 18, 2023 in the city of Hewlêr in Southern Kurdistan as a result of an armed attack by the Turkish National Intelligence Organization – MIT.

It is clear that Southern Kurdistan is full of intelligence agencies of different countries. Especially the spies of the Turkish state and the MIT have created many terrorist groups. In this context, a terrorist group under the auspices of the MIT department planned to kill Deniz Hêvî and assassinated him. Later, the security forces of Hewlêr arrested two suspects involved in the crime.4The case was postponed several times without a court order. After a year had passed since the crime, the court made a decision in two sessions. On September 10, 2024, the Hewlêr Criminal Court sentenced the two defendants (C.S. and N.E.) to life imprisonment in accordance with Article 2 of the Anti-Terror Law of the Kurdistan Regional Government in the final hearing of the case that was held on the trial of the two defendants in the case of the murder of Deniz Hêvî.

During the investigation of the suspects, the two were accused by the security forces of working for the MIT and of helping the MIT in the execution of the martyr Deniz. They were also accused of spying on behalf of the MIT department and of setting up spy networks in all cities of South Kurdistan (Duhok, Hewlêr, Silêmanî, Kerkûk û Kelar). They were also accused of spying on dozens of people in these cities.

According to the security investigation, eight other suspects are being searched for the murder of Martyr Deniz, including the main killer as well as several employees and officers of the Turkish intelligence agency MİT.

In addition to the life sentence in this case, the court of Southern Kurdistan region sentenced N.E. to 10 years and C.S. to 7 years in prison on suspicion of espionage and disturbing the regional security.

We, the National Congress of Kurdistan – KNK, will follow this case until the end. It is necessary that all the accused who directly caused the terror and all the MIT officers and all the spies who planned these crimes are exposed, tried and punished. If not, a wide network of espionage led by MIT may commit more terrorist acts in the future.

In order to prevent these crimes, it is first of all the duty of the government of South Kurdistan not to open the door to the spy agencies, but to expose them and prevent them.

The Kurdistan National Congress (KNK) would like to thank all the loyal patriots who have worked hard for the cause of the martyr Deniz Hêvî. Especially the team of lawyers who worked hard and brought the case to this level.
