Berlin celebrates 25th anniversary of KNK

A reception was recently held in Berlin, Germany to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Kurdistan National Congress (KNK). The event was graced by the presence of KNK Co-Chair Ahmet Karamus, along with representatives from various political parties and Kurdish organizations in Germany.

During the reception, Ahmet Karamus emphasized the significance of the KNK’s founding mission to foster unity and alliance among Kurds, echoing the aspirations of Ahmedê Xanî. He highlighted the pivotal role played by Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan in the establishment and institutionalization of the KNK, acknowledging his vision and dedication to the Kurdish cause.

Karamus underscored the enduring struggle of the Kurdish people against oppression and occupation, emphasizing the need for international support to address the challenges faced by Kurds worldwide. He called upon the German government and civil society to condemn Turkey’s policies towards the Kurdish population and to advocate for human rights and democracy in the region.

Furthermore, Karamus expressed the KNK’s commitment to forging alliances for the benefit of the Kurdish people across different regions, urging political parties and organizations to unite under a common alliance. The event also featured a cinevision presentation on the history and activities of the KNK, followed by a speech from Prof. Dr. Heinz Bierbaum, President of the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation.

The anniversary celebration concluded with a festive atmosphere, as guests enjoyed food and music in honor of the founding of the KNK.
