KNK Condolences on the Passing of His Holiness Pope Francis

It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt sympathy that we extend our condolences to the Catholic and Christian community on the passing of His Holiness Pope Francis—a man whose life embodied compassion, humility, and the tireless pursuit of justice and peace.

In an age often dimmed by division, Pope Francis radiated as a guiding light. He was not a pontiff bound by gold and grandeur, but a shepherd who walked among the people—especially the poor, the forgotten, and the displaced. From the slums of Buenos Aires to the refugee camps of the Middle East, he carried the Gospel not only in word but in deeds, breaking bread with the marginalised and offering a voice to the voiceless.

We in Kurdistan and in the Kurdish diaspora, a land and people acquainted with suffering and perseverance, felt the warmth of his solidarity. In his unwavering advocacy for peace, interfaith dialogue, and human dignity, we saw a kindred spirit—one who believed, as we do, that justice and compassion are the pillars of a better world.

Pope Francis did not merely lead; he listened. He did not only preach peace; he sought to build it, brick by brick, in a world so often torn by war and hatred. His memory will remain a moral compass not only for Christians, but for all humanity.

May his legacy live on in acts of kindness, courage, and hope. And may his soul rest in eternal peace.

With deepest respect,
